New release: DANGEROUS MOVE, and a chance for a free book! Roxane Rustand

Is your summer starting off as quickly as mine? It seems like the time has flown!

Part of that is because we had a new grandbaby in mid-May. Such a cutie, with long, thick hair. She was over nine pounds and is eating like a champ. She's already out of newborn size!  I spend a lot of time preparing meals for our daughter's family to help them out, and then adore spending as much time there as I can.

And then there was a book deadline. It had been well edited and proofed, and I had gone over it dozens of times, But at the last minute, to my dismay, I found a small timeline issue. 😟

Sounds like a simple fix, right? Well, nope. Not always. Because if even a small part of the plot needs to be fixed, it can end up being a much, much bigger issue. Plot threads can run through a story like octopus tentacles...and some can be hard to find.  I'm so glad that I discovered it! All of us work so hard to create stories readers will enjoy, and we don't want to let our readers down in any way.

DANGEROUS MOVE, released yesterday on Amazon, is FREE on Kindle Unlimited or just $3.99 to buy.  CLICK HERE  to read more about it and to buy.

Here's a quick blurb:

Has she just made the worst decision of her life?

Her husband walked out on her and their three, recently adopted children--children who desperately need a sense of security.

The children are her world, and she will do anything to keep them safe.

So now she has moved far away to a quaint small town in Northern Wisconsin, to start her new career as the administrator of Blackberry Hill Hospital.

But all is not what it seemed when she took the job.

The hospital death count is rising. And when a man from her past shows up, she must keep a dark secret from him...or risk everything she holds dear.

Leave a comment, and you will be entered in a drawing for a free e-book book from my backlist.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer!

An interview with Susan Page Davis ...by Roxanne Rustand

Susan Page Davis's TRUE BLUE CHRISTMAS released November 7th.

It’s the fifth in her True Blue Mysteries series, featuring Campbell McBride, who has recently begun working with her father, Bill McBride, as a private investigator.

New neighbors, cryptic Christmas cards, and jury duty. What next? Campbell McBride is juggling her new role as a private investigator with her slightly wacky personal life.

Can she and her dad figure out who stashed a valuable painting in their client’s attic? And is the murder of an egocentric landlord somehow connected?

She and Bill end up helping a client learn the truth behind a stolen painting and so much more! Not only that, she has some adventures both on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

I wrote this story shortly after serving on jury duty in Calloway County. I really hoped I’d be picked for a panel, but I wasn’t. I tried to channel my frustration through Campbell, who also has jury duty at the opening of the story.

I've lived in western Kentucky for thirteen years, now, and I keep learning things about the Commonwealth and the area where I live.

I hope you enjoy reading True Blue Mysteries as much as I enjoy writing them.

I’m giving away a copy of BLUE PLATE SPECIAL, the first in this set, or any other of books 1-4 in the series. For US address only, if you want a paperback. For foreign addresses, please choose an e-book.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING....and giving away a free book!

What are your plans for tomorrow? A quiet, peaceful day? Heading somewhere for your Thanksgiving celebration? Or getting ready to host some family or friends at your own house?

We always host the big holidays here, so you can imagine what today is like.  Cleaning, advance food prep (pies and more pies!) and planning out tomorrow in fifteen-minute increments for food prep before serving dinner at four in the afternoon.

Our daughter is an amazing cook, though, so it's such a blessing to be able to share the tasks. But by the time we serve, I just want to find a quiet corner and put my feet up!

Thus, this is a quick post, but I'd like to mention
FINAL CHANCE, my November release. It's an inspirational romantic suspense.

Here's a quick blurb:

Arson. Attempted murder. And Kris Donaldson is the prime suspect. Why won't anyone believe she's innocent?

After years on the run from an abusive ex, Kris receives an unexpected inheritance, an acreage in the Rockies near a small, quaint mountain town. It's her dream come true--a chance to establish an animal rescue and finally lead a peaceful life. Perhaps there's even a chance of forever-after with the intriguing rancher next door.

But her dreams might just prove fatal. A stalker will stop at nothing to destroy her new life. The threats are mounting. She's being framed for heinous crimes. Her reputation, happiness, and in the end, her life is on the line. As always, she can simply cut her losses and run. But this time, there's too much at stake.

This time, she's going to stay.

Talking to Elizabeth Goddard

 by Patricia Bradley

Today I'm excited to be talking to Elizabeth Goddard about her new release Present Danger! (And Friday, I'll be giving a review of it on my blog at ptbradley.com/blog--Spoiler alert--I loved it)

Former FBI Special Agent Jack Tanner is working as a detective in Montana when he comes across a body in the national forest during a search and rescue mission. He's committed to finding the killer, even if it means working alongside his old flame, US Forest Service Special Agent Terra Connors.

When Terra discovers that the murder victim had ties to a powerful and dangerous trafficker of archaeological artifacts, the investigation takes a deadly turn--one that hits too close to home. As Terra fears she lacks the courage to face what comes next, Jack is more determined than ever to protect her. But he's failed her before. And if he fails this time, it will cost them far more than just their hearts.

Join bestselling and award-winning author Elizabeth Goddard as she plunges you into a web of deceit made of hidden crimes, open threats, and long-buried family secrets in this gripping first book of an explosive new series.

When I thought about interviewing Elizabeth, I wanted to do something different, so I asked her three questions and she was gracious enough to reply.

1. Elizabeth, why did you start writing?

Since I was a young child I always loved to read and to make up stories. I spent entire summers reading and some books I re-read. I seemed to excel at writing in school, and somewhere along the way, I recognized there was a burning desire to write inside of me.

I have to get credit where credit is due—God put that desire inside of me. He gave me the dream, and then made it come true. I felt His call on my life but ran from it for a few years until in 2001, I purchased a devotional that helped people work through answering the question about God’s call on their life.

I also signed up to attend a writer’s conference and, wouldn’t you know it, before I even attended the conference, I accepted God’s call on my life to write. I joined ACFW and a critique group and started submitting a chapter a week. I have never looked back, and I’m so glad I answered His call.

I'm so glad you did. I have enjoyed everyone one of your books! And thank you for allowing me to endorse this one!

2. Elizabeth, what draws you to the mountains for settings?

When I was growing up, we always took vacations in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. I grew up in East Texas and it’s pretty flat, so we’d make the long drive and spend time in the stunning mountains. I think I got the love of those settings from my parents and those trips. But I don’t just love the mountains, I love the rocky ocean beaches and the redwoods . . . anything that’s awe-inspiring. I can’t say exactly why a beautiful natural setting inspires me, but when I experience something beautiful in God’s creation, I want to write a story so I can spend more time there and I want to share that experience and place with others as well.

I know exactly what you mean. It's like a beautiful sunrise forms a story and it's bursting to get out.

3. Which character in Present Danger is most like you?

Ha! I don’t usually write characters like me, but in this case, I would have to say Terra because she loves the forest.

I loved Tara. And she did love her forest. Thanks for joining us today, Elizabeth.

Okay, Suspense Sisters' readers, you can find links to purchase Present Danger here, and if you'll leave a comment, I'll enter you in a drawing for the book. The winner will be announced next Wednesday in the comments.
