Happy Wednesday! I’m so excited to introduce you to my friend, Gina Holder! I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
Gina Holder is an indie author and stay-at-home mom. She’s had an infatuation with books for as long as she can remember. She loves sharing uplifting messages from God’s Word and introducing readers to new and new-to-them authors on her blog at http://storiesbygina.wordpress.com. When she’s not writing, Gina enjoys playing the piano, cooking, reading, watching Hallmark mysteries, and solving “escape room” puzzles. She’s been a member of ACFW for several years, and loves growing in her craft as an author. She published her debut novel in 2017. Gina lives in Colorado with her husband and daughter.
All right! Let’s go!
- How many books have you written, and which is your favorite? Grace Immeasurable is my fourth full-length novel and my fifth book. What’s my favorite book? That’s like asking a mother who her favorite child is! For me, my favorite is the one I just finished writing.
- What part of the book did you have the hardest time writing? In Grace Immeasurable, the hardest part was Act 3- the climax. I wanted it to be believable and full of action, and I wanted Kylie to finally take care of business on her own. I thought I had it all worked out, but then the villain started laughing. And I thought, why is he laughing? Turns, out, because he knew something I didn’t realize he knew, and that changed the direction of the ending.
- What part of the book was the most fun to write? The scenes with Kylie’s and Peter’s friends. Especially Pater’s friends were a hoot, and their scenes are the comedic relief from and otherwise intense book.
- What is a significant way your book has changed since the first draft? When I started writing Grace Immeasurable, I had no idea the depth of hurt that Kylie had endured. Due to the intensity of the emotion of the story, I had to taper some of the other elements to keep the story from bogging down the ugliness of this rotten world.
- What perspectives of beliefs have you challenged with this work? It was as I was finishing up Grace Immeasurable, when I realized a theme ran through the entire trilogy—that of not letting your past define who you are. Each woman had a past she needed to let go of, and instead, she must accept who she is in the eyes of God. She is Accepted, Seen, and Loved.
- What is one thing you want readers to know about Grave Immeasurable? Kylie is a mess. I realized that, and I embraced it. Yes, she continually makes wrong decisions and will make you want to tear out your hair. She may even seem unrelatable or unbelievable to you, but I ask that you give her a chance. She has a heart of gold and wants desperately to be loved for who she is. She’s a people-pleaser, and when you try to please too many people at the same time, yes, you will come across as “all over the place.” I tried to ground her a little, but she is who she is, and I hope that we can all see a little of ourselves in her and learn from the difficult life lesson she went through.

Here’s a little about her new release, Grace Immeasurable, and how to buy:
She’s a modern day damsel. He’s her self-appointed knight. Who will rescue whom?
Kylie just wants to run her café without people thinking she’s a damsel in distress. That proves difficult when a man claiming to be her half-brother reveals buried family trauma and forces Kylie to face the scars of her childhood.
Peter doesn’t mean to be a knight in shining armor, but as her proverbial big brother, he decides to uncover the truth about Kylie’s semi-sibling, while trying to make peace with his mistakes.
Unearthing the past leads to a danger greater than either ever expected. In the end, who will rescue whom?
