JUST 3 MORE WEEKS UNTIL THE RELEASE OF AMONG THE INNOCENT!

Its less than 3 weeks until AMONG THE INNOCENT releases! I can’t believe it’s finally almost here.

When I first signed the contract 2 years earlier, it still felt like a dream, but now, my first book with Revell is almost here.

When Leah Miller's entire Amish family was murdered ten years ago, the person believed responsible took his own life.

Since then, Leah left the Amish and joined the police force. Now, after another Amish woman is found murdered with the same MO, it becomes clear that the wrong man may have been blamed for her family's deaths.

As Leah and the new police chief, Dalton Cooper, work long hours struggling to fit the pieces together in order to catch the killer, they can't help but grow closer. When secrets from both of their pasts begin to surface, an unexpected connection between them is revealed. But this is only the beginning. Could it be that the former police chief framed an innocent man to keep the biggest secret of all buried? And what will it mean for Leah--and Dalton--when the full truth comes to light?

USA Today bestselling author Mary Alford keeps you guessing as two determined souls plumb the dark depths of the past in order to forge a brighter future--together.

Here Area A Few Reviews:

" A cop takes on a serial killer with a connection to her past in this taut thriller from Alford.

Alford’s assured pacing keeps the murder mystery simmering. This tense thriller does the trick.”--Publishers Weekly

"Wow! This is an action packed, intense, edge of seat nail biter! It’s definitely the best Suspense Thriller I’ve read so far this year. Mary Alford pulled out all the stops when she penned this new novel giving her readers a riveting and unpredictable story to get caught up in." - Goodreads Review

"
Mary Alford starts this one off with such intensity that I was completely drawn in and barely could put the book down. She ramps up the fear as this horrifying killer plans everything down to the last detail, so very full of evil.

She gives us a great plot, good characters and enough suspense to keep us on the edge of our seats. Well done!" - Goodreads Review

"
This was truly one of the best, gripping Mysteries I have read in a long time. I couldn't put it down. One of my favorite things was knowing who the murderer was, but Mary Alford kept the reader trying to figure out his next move. A gripping story of a woman's family who were all murdered in front of her. Amish girls are being sought after and then killed as he is waiting till the 10th anniversary of Leah's families deaths. There's a surprise twist as the story wraps up. Very strong storyline and characters made this a great read!" - Goodreads Review

Excerpt from AMONG THE INNOCENT

In the distance, dark clouds gathered over the Mission Mountains. A storm was on its way. Despite the sweltering heat, a cold shiver sped down Leah’s spine. Something bad was approaching. She could feel it moving in.

It’s just the time of year, she told herself. The anniversary of what happened always churned up stuff.

She’d seen plenty of terrible things in her four years on the force. Yet, at sixteen, Leah had become personally acquainted with the devastating effects tragedy had on the living. Her grief had wrapped its spindly limbs around her and took up residence in her soul. That night in the barn—the things she’d witnessed—had imprinted itself in her DNA.

The woman staring back in the rearview mirror was an older version of that frightened Amish girl whose life had changed forever with a flick of a knife. The scar on her neck was a constant reminder of how close to death she’d come and of those who hadn’t been so lucky.

Leah dragged in a deep breath and dropped her eyes from the mirror. Better to keep that door closed. Too many bad things hid behind it. For Marge’s sake, she needed to stay strong.

  2. Yes, they do IF the majority of the reviews are negative. If it's just a few bad reviews from Negative Nellys, I usually don't pay them any attention. On Goodreads I typically read those of reviewers whose opinions I trust. But not everybody likes the same thing, so I'm willing to purchase a novel based on the author, description, & book cover!! I've had Among the Innocent on my radar for quite some time! Thanks for a chance to win it!

    1. That makes sense Diana. I've read reviews before and then later read the book and loved it. Sometimes, its just a matter of opinion.

  3. Yes, they do, but only to a certain extent. If all reviews are amazing, I get suspicious of only launch team type reviews and if a negative review is negative for absurd reasons, it goes up higher on the TBR pile to read faster and sooner!

    1. Makes sense, Katie. I've read some reviews before that really do not have anything to do with the author. Its best to take everything into account.

  5. I don't usually read reviews. If it's an author I like, sometimes I just go ahead and get the book. Normally, though, I read the back blurb and the first page. If I'm hooked on the first page, it's a keeper. This book sounds great!! se simpson@yahoo.com

  7. I do consider the reviews, but if the synopsis grabs my attention, I am willing to give the book a try regardless of negative reviews. I have found several new authors that I love to read by doing this. Traesmama@gmail.com

    1. That's good to hear. Sometimes reviews are based on the reader's personal tastes and not the quality of the book.

  8. Reviews matter to me, but I look more at the low ones than the high ones, and I look to see WHY they're giving it a low rating. If it's because they didn't choose carefully when purchasing, or disagreed with the author, or hate the entire genre or something unrelated, then the review doesn't matter to me, and I disregard it. I'm generally more concerned with the synopsis, the author and reputation, genre, etc.

    1. I do the same, Amy. Reviews can be subjective. Its best to base your purchase on more than one thing.
