Today I will be giving away two copies of my book Undercover Mission. It is book three in the Alaska K-9 series. The book takes place on a cruise ship, so that meant I got to do all kinds of research about cruise ships. Some of them are so big and have so much going on you can stay on the ship and never run out of things to do. They have tons of places to eat, recreational and entertainment opportunities, and of course shopping. Some of the ships bring on board experts and tour guides to teach about the places the ship stops at. A large cruise ship is in many ways like a floating village.
The research got me to thinking about what kind of vacations I would like to take in the future. Alaska was already on my bucket list but I think a cruise ship would make it even more fun. They have cruises that never go out into the deep ocean so you have a port of call almost everyday.
I have other vacations in mind for my bucket list. A shack by the ocean with nothing but my journal and a stack of books to read. A trip to Ireland and Scotland. A walking tour of England. Costa Rica because it looks so beautiful and Belize because they speak English there.
I also think about vacations a little closer to home. Not too far from where I live is a Christian camp up in the mountains. They rent out rooms for people wanting to do a private retreat during the off season. I used to camp with my late husband a lot when we were first married. Back then we slept in a tent on the ground. Now I know that I turn into a crab if I don't have a good night's sleep. But I still would love to have a van with a nice bed and a chance to build a fire and roast a hot dog.
I got to see my parents for the first time in a year! I have been other places, but that was the most important thing to me right now!
ReplyDeleteisn't it amazing how things we took for granted now are so special
DeleteRetired and love to travel to see new sights while trying to capture what we see in photographs. Our plan was to see as many sights as possible marking off at least two bucket list trips a year - until Covid hit and all our plans got cancelled - before my medical issues make it even harder to do. Like the little train, my motto is "I think I can" make another trip. :)
ReplyDeleteWe love going to the national parks and see all the wonders they hold. We have been to the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands as well as touring many Amish communities. We were to have taken a month long trip to Utah to see the five parks there, but that trip got put on the back burner when we had to cancel it.
Things being still somewhat up in the air, we didn't plan a trip for this year, but are already planning for next year. It takes a lot of planning for us between finding out what and where I can go as well as we travel with our 16 year old chihuahua. It amazes me that places will take unruly kids, but not one little dog who comes with a whole tunk full of "his" things to prevent any noise or problems for others.
Books set in Alaska have a special place in my heart. My folks were stationed in Alaska (Dad was a career Army man) when they got pregnant with me. Mom was RH- so their orders were cut short and sent back stateside or Alaska would have been my home state. Always wanted to go there because my parents spoke so lovingly about it. Also love books with K9's or dogs in general. When our daughter went to her heavenly home at 17, I found the perfect job to keep me sane. I went to work with the police department in the animal control department working with the dogs. I had a close relationship with the K9's as well. So you add all that together and you have me with a great desire to read "Undercover Mission".
Thank you for the chance to win a copy! Shared and hoping to be the very fortunate ones to be selected.

Over the 50+ years we've been married my hubby and I have taken a lot of trips and seen a variety of sites. For the last couple yrs we haven't taken any 'lengthy' trips, pretty much just short jaunts to visit our out of state kids. This last month i went for a 5 day trip to Florida w/ my son and his family. The two trips that are on my bucket list are going to Alaska and Australia. Time is running out the older I get. I better get planning and on my way!!

DeleteI would love to take a trip to Armenia! The land of my grandfather. A few years ago my brother found our missing cousins on one of his trips there. Our family hasn’t had contact with them in over 100 years! I want to meet my new found cousins in person instead of Skype and FaceTime.
ReplyDeletethat reminds me. my ancestors are from Finland and Norway. would love to go there. hope you get to go to Armenia

I want to spend time in New England, do some hiking, and see a really old building - and a tall mountain.

ReplyDeleteI love to travel and would love to go to Alaska! Guess I'll have to settle for reading about the state. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would love to travel to Calabria, Italy, the “toe of the boot”. It was settled by Greeks, and I understand the Greek architecture is still prevalent today. My late husband and I loved to travel, although we didn’t get to do a lot of it. I would enjoy the laid back atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and time to read, sightsee, and write!
ReplyDeleteYour book sounds like a great read, wow and it takes place in a cruise ship. I have never been on a cruise, but my mom went on an Alaskan Cruise and she loved it. Me , well I don't think I would want to go on a cruise ship, you see I don't swim, so I think that is a big part of it, now reading about a story happening in a cruise ship would be a lot different, now that I would love to do. :) Yes, I heard there's lots and lots of happenings going on a Cruise and also lots and lots of people, maybe way too too many for me. I will settle for just reading about stories in them. We have no plans for vacation, I do want to see our son, grandson and daughter in law of whom we haven't seen for a year and a half, thanks to COVID, but Godwilling soon we will. Have a Great weekend and stay safe. God Bless you. I love your book cover! aliciabhaney at sbc global dot net
ReplyDeleteI would like to be able to go to my son's wedding June 26th at 6:00 PM in Mineral Springs, Wisconsin. I would love to go but don't drive on interstates since losing the sight in my right eye. I would love to win the book. It is larger print and I need large print to be able to read.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a bucket list of things I want to do. I never made one and don't think I ever will.
ReplyDeleteI don’t have a bucket list of vacations as it isn’t a realistic for me. It would be wonderful if possible.
