Happy Friday, Suspense Sisters! Hope you are all having a great start to your weekend.
If you look on any bestselling Christian Suspense list, you’ll
no doubt see her name there, and with good cause. I’m a huge fan of Lynette
Eason’s books, and look forward to each of her new releases.
Recently, I’ve started reading through her backlist and came
across The Lawman Returns. The title reminded me of an old west story where the
hero always saves the day. When I found out The Lawman Returns was part of
series entitled Wrangler’s Corner, well, I was all in.
The book didn’t disappoint. From page one, the suspense kept
me on the edge of my seat.
Someone wants social worker Sabrina Mayfield dead. In light of
the recent murder of her friend, Deputy Steven Starke, Sabrina believes his
death, and the threats against her, are somehow related to a case she is
working involving the three Zellis siblings.
When Sabrina gets a call to meet the oldest brother, Jordan Zellis, at
a run-down trailer and suspected meth house, she almost dies when someone takes
a shot at her.
The deputy responding to the scene is none other than Steven’s
brother, Clay Starke.
Clay has agreed to take his brother’s vacant deputy position
and is determined to find out who killed Steven.
He and Sabrina begin a twisted journey into the darker side
of the small town of Wrangler’s Corner, Tennessee, and discover the truth behind
Steven’s death. Yet nothing can prepare them for the surprising outcome as old
secrets and grudges come to light.
I truly loved this book and look forward to reading more in
the Wrangler’s Corner series.
