Book Review: Track of Courage by Susan May Warren

I'm excited to review Track of Courage by Susan May Warren today! It's the first book of hers that I've read, and it definitely won't be the last.

There are so many things about this book to love, so I'll share my top three with you.

1.) The Characters- Track of Courage hosted a wonderful cast of characters that were complex and interesting, people I wanted to see succeed. The two main characters, Keely and Dawson, both had personal issues and lies they believed that were realistic and gave them something powerful to work through. There were secondary characters in the story that added depth and diversity of personalities. Some were frustrating, and others were endearing, which felt true-to-life, since that's exactly what we find in various people we come in contact with every day. Also, shout-out to the dog, Caspian. He was so fun to read and made me want another dog, though my current dog would not share my sentiments.

2.) The Setting- The book is set in Alaska in the middle of a blizzard, and let me tell you, I found myself shivering many times while reading the story. Susan May Warren wrote the climate so well, I felt like she plopped me in the middle of it. Because of the dangerous terrain, the setting was a bit of a villain itself, throwing curveballs in the way of the characters. I love a good man vs. nature storyline, and Track of Courage delivered.

3. The Writing Style- Again, this is the first of Susan May Warren's books that I've read, and I didn't quite know what to expect, since authors are so varied in their writing styles and voices. Track of Courage read so smoothly, and the author's voice was unique and enjoyable. There was a good amount of faith woven throughout the story, but never once did the characters sound preachy.

Overall, Track of Courage was an excellent read, and I would recommend you check it out. You can get a copy here

  1. Susan May Warren is one of my very favorite authors!!!

My favorite winter activity is... going on vacation to Hawai'i!!🤣😂 (My husband and I actually did that over the New Year! It was AMAZING!) Seriously, though, I HATE being cold, so my favorite winter activity is staying inside, snuggled up in a cozy hoodie/flannel, cozy socks, and a cozy blanket reading!
