INTERVIEW

Tell us about your recent release.

Mara, The Unseen Battle is a gripping Christian suspense novel set in 1970s small-town Canada. As Mara endures her mother’s relentless cruelty, a chilling unseen supernatural war rages. Guardian angels fight to protect her, while dark forces seek to steal, kill, and destroy. In this first book of the trilogy, readers discover a world where spiritual warfare is brought to life, prayer is a weapon, and faith is tested. Every soul must choose between light and darkness—including Mara. Likened to Frank Peretti books with a whole new twist, I believe this story will impact you in such a way, your prayer life will never be the same.

What was your inspiration for this book?

This story, Mara, The Unseen Battle… found me. My genre is historical romance. I was building a following, won some awards, and loved what I was doing. But as I finished up my last series the Holy Spirit spoke so clearly that Mara, The Unseen Battle, a Christian Suspense, would be my next series. I was to write from that deep place of my own experiences of childhood abuse and reveal the unseen spirit world that preys on the unsuspecting and vulnerable. It is my hope and prayer that the reader is entertained, but even more importantly inspired to realize how powerful prayer is, and how when faith is tested, we have an amazing God and guardian angels at the ready. We are not alone but dearly loved.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Your least favorite?

I love writing the first copy the best…where creativity flows and the book takes me in surprising directions. So much fun!

The part I like the least about the whole writing process is the marketing of the book. It is not an interest of mine, nor a gift…so I struggle to put my work out there.

Tell us three things about yourself that might surprise your readers.

I am a woman of contrasts. I’m a thrill seeker, have jumped out of airplanes, yet like to curl up by the fire with a good book and my German Shepherd Bernese cross, named Lacey.

I love gardening, and the am known as the flower lady in my neighborhood.

I love Jesus more than life itself.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I love reading, but of course. Gardening. Travelling. And visiting my daughter who lives in Germany with her husband.

What are you working on now?

I am currently marketing book one Mara, The Unseen Battle. Editing book two Mara, In the Face of Battle. And writing book three, Mara, The Victory Battle.

Anything else you’d like to share?

If someone wants to become a self-published author, the one piece of advice I’d give them if they’ve already written a book is to make sure you have a great macro editor and a great line editor. You need both.
