Kristen here. Our featured author today is no stranger to you but our very own Suspense Sister Marji Laine! She has a new release, and I'm so excited to interview her about it. She’s also giving away an e-book, so keep reading to the end.
1. Please tell us about your new release.
A WOLF’S DEMISE is a 1940s romantic mystery with a Fairy Tale twist. It’s the third book of the “Once Upon a Mystery” series which is made up of stand-alone books that are loosely attached.
2. What was your inspiration for this book?
The story takes place in my hometown of Dallas, Texas, and part of the inspiration for it is my grandfather. He was a firefighter in downtown during this time period and he was a fire captain in the early 1950s. I love the elements that his inspiration brought to the story!
3. That is so special! What is your favorite part of the writing process?
I love the planning part of the writing process, but I also like the writing. I use Scrivener, so it’s so easy to organize and set up the writing. Then when I’m ready to complete the scenes, its all laid out for me.
4. Tell us three things about yourself that might surprise your readers.
a. I’m a singer – praise team and alto in our choir (yes, our large church still has a choir. LOL!) – and I’ve performed in and directed plays and musicals all my life. Most of these have been at my church, but I played Ado Annie in Oklahoma when my kids were young and was the choreographer for the production as well.
b. In addition to writing, I also have a freelance business where I do the interior and cover design for independent author books and teach authors how to publish their own books on Amazon.
c. I teach a weekly Bible study at my church and have recently published a non-fiction Scripture memory program called HIDING THE WORD.
5. Wow, you sure stay busy! What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I love to play games with my friends and family. Right now, my son has us all involved with a “FAM-tasy” football league. We also meet online from time to time to play online strategy games like Wingspan, Terraforming Mars, Dominion, and Scythe.
6. What are you working on now?
I’m working on the 3rd book of my Heath’s Point Suspense – this one is called BOILING POINT. And I’m also beginning to put together a brand-new series that will be an offshoot of my “Grime Fighter” series.
7. I look forward to hearing more about those projects down the road. For now, where can your readers learn more about you?
I keep my newsletter crew up to date, so that’s the best way. There’s a sign up list on my website – www.MarjiLaine.com. I also work on keeping that site updated as well, but the best way is to sign up for the newsletter.
Thank you, Marji, for sharing your time and story with us!

More about A WOLF'S DEMISE:
When Ruby finds the leader of the office wolf pack lying in a pool of blood, she becomes a suspect… and the next target.
"You’ve met the wolf, huh?"
Dallas, Texas, 1949
Ruby Stedman expects her first few days in the secretarial pool of a large business to be challenging, especially with her lack of training. But she's determined to prove to the boss who doesn't want her there that she can learn quickly and excel in whatever task she's given. Even if it means working for some of the less than gentlemanly executives on the upper floors.
But dealing with her difficult boss becomes the least of her troubles. She doesn't expect to be literally chased around an office. Nor does she realize she's being set up for a rendezvous on the top floor of the building - an empty, after-hours building.
When she finds the leader of the wolf pack lying in a pool of blood, not only is she implicated in the man's murder, she suddenly becomes a target herself. Even her favorite Dallas detective, Chris Wilson, can't seem to keep her safe.
Can they figure out all that is going on before a killer strikes again?

DeleteI always liked Jack and the Beanstalk. I am about to read A Wolf's Demise...I know it will be good.
ReplyDeleteI hope you love it!
DeleteMy favorite is Snow White because she actually prays in the movie…just for less than a minute, but definitely a prayer. watts.vickie@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteCool, I've never noticed that!
ReplyDeleteThe new Grime Fighter series sounds interesting!

LOVE that story!
DeleteNew author for me. Cinderella Always love a new take on it. cheetahthecat1982ATgmailDOTcom
ReplyDeleteI always liked Snow White
ReplyDeleteCinderella is my favorite,, I think. Mostly because it's the only one that isn't scary to my 4 year old... and I love the interactions of the mice (especially Gus Gus) and the cat, Lucifer (in the 1950 Disney version). There are also several versions of the retellings that I enjoy!

I love Beauty and the Beast. Many people look at our appearances and discount who we are. They do not try to get to know us. I love how Belle looked beyond the Beast's exterior to see the real person. dpruss@prodigy.net
ReplyDeleteI love Beauty and the Beast, especially the version I grew up with. I love how her kindness changes the heart of the Beast.
ReplyDeleteI don't this author and would like to. jrs0350@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteCinderella is my favorite
ReplyDeleteI like Cinderella and her happily ever after!
ReplyDeleteI agree with so many and have to say that Cinderella is my favorite!! Every little girl in my class would agree with me. Cinderella didn’t have much to gaining a prince!! I asked for a Cinderella watch with a pink strap for Christmas one year; however, I received a Snow White watch with a blue strap. I definitely was disappointed but didn’t express it. I was grateful to have a watch!

Beauty and the Beast. When my daughter was a little girl she watched this movie every single day for I don't know how many years. Everyone that took care of her knew that they had to let her watch it. So it became my mom's favorite too.
ReplyDeleteSo when the live version of the movie came out, we surprised my late mom on her 70th birthday and we took her to see it with my daughter, her daughter and my other kids. It was a full circle family moment to share it with the new generation, we had 4 generations of girls there, plus my sons.
