When the days turn cooler, (theoretically. . .it's still warm here in Texas), and the leaves begin to change colors, my thoughts naturally shift to all things fall and holiday related.
The “Ber” months are upon us my friends, and they bring
with them so many wonderful things to look forward to.
Beautiful fall days. Sweater weather. Pumpkin everything
from carving to lattes. Pies and muffins. Followed soon after by Thanksgiving with
all the amazing food served while we give thanks and reflect on all the gifts
God has given us through the years.
Of course, the most special time of this holiday season is Christmastime.
Where we celebrate one of the holiest times of the year, the birth of our Savior.
From the Christmas movies to the beautiful decorations, to the scents of the
holiday, I love Christmas. And I love how everyone seems a little nicer at this time of the year.
Don’t forget about the holiday novels that come out around this
time of year. They get us into the Christmas spirit and allow us to enjoy the holiday all year long.
This year, I’m honored to be part of a holiday romantic
suspense collection that features five authors and releases September 27th.
Cold Escape is the first of two books in the Winter Shivers
series.
The cover conjures up all sorts of dangerous scenarios, doesn’t
it? Being snowed in with danger closing in. On the run from a dangerous killer.
A stalker lurking, just to name a few.
For a chance to win an e-book copy of Cold Escape, tell me what you
see when you look at the cover of Cold Escape. There are no wrong answers. We’re
just having fun.
Be sure to include your email in your comment and I’ll
announce the winner soon!
Here’s a little about Cold Escape:
Being a nanny shouldn’t be dangerous. Tell that to the people who want her dead.
As the nanny of twin two-year-olds who lost their mother, Valena Greer wants to create a happy and safe home for the children. But when danger comes to her door, the illusion of safety is shattered.
A security agent shouldn’t have to convince the lady he’s saving her life.
But that’s exactly what Cooper White must do when he tries to rescue Valena and the twins from would-be killers.
As the deadly pursuers close in, can Valena and Cooper trust each other and God for the rescue they need?
Where Danger Leads by Mary Alford
The dying words of a stranger sends former CIA officer Colton Hawthorne out of hiding in a blizzard to find out the truth behind an ambush that killed his entire CIA team and branded Colton a traitor.

As they navigate a treacherous path, Colton and Elizabeth discover that their pasts are intertwined, and dangerous forces are closing in. Their race for answers will collide with deadly consequences.
Stone Cold by Chautona Havig
Can you build a catapult from rakes and flowerpots?
When Beryl finds her aunt dead, she flees before the cops blame her. Unfortunately, the killers are after her. Rural Michigan isn’t Gramercy Park, but it does have a great castle to hide out in!
“Gibbs” arrives home from the hospital (broken leg and all) to find someone living on his third floor, hiding out from “goons,” and making boobytraps to fend off an attack!
Beryl is determined to beat the goons at their own game. Gibbs just wants to keep her alive. And maybe steal her heart for Christmas.

beverage and get ready for Winter Shivers!
All the best. . .
Mary
Love the name of this series. Winter Shivers. {{brrr}} The cover itself makes me shiver! It looks freezing cold & lonely, but also sparkling in all of its wintery beauty. I sure wish we'd see a few snowflakes here in SC, but it seldom ever happens. 😧

Same here in Texas, Diana. We rarely get snow to amount to anything.
DeleteI preordered the book and was also a Beta reader, so I have read it and the stories are amazing! I don’t need a copy of the book, but I would like to say that this is one of the best Christmas suspense anthologies that I have ever read! The cover speaks to me of cold and mysterious lights…kind of like the star for the wise men. Follow the clues in these stories and you will discover the solution to a well-written novella. watts.vickie@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love that description, Vickie.

ReplyDeleteHeather Mitchell crhbmitchellfam@gmail.com
Yes, it is!
DeleteThe cover reminds me of where I live. I can just feel the brutally cold temperatures and the northern lights. Its a beautiful cover though.
ReplyDeleteIt does look cold, doesn't it Elissa.
DeleteThe green light is the focal point to me, so it's either the Northern Lights or some kind of creepy witchy steam from something on fire ....
ReplyDeleteLove the cover & love Mary Alford’s writing. Thanks for sharing 🙌🏼🙌🏼
ReplyDeleteI see a gorgeous, snowy path calling me to adventure!

ReplyDeleteLooks like a great read to cozy up with…Karen S kj.scholten@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteI think of the Northern Lights. We saw them when we lived in North Dakota and in Wisconsin. I am glad I don’t live that far north anymore. We had brutal winters in both states.

I think of running for your life, but forgot to grab the coat and trying not to freeze to death. Then wondering how to keep warm by breaking off branches to hold close to your body. Then grabbing extra branches also to cover footprints in the snow as you try to escape. While the photo looks peaceful, it seems a person might feel a lot of stress trying to get away in those dark woods.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great book!

ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to see the Northern Lights and associate that with the far north where it is very cold. That is what I thought of when I saw the cover.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn Frazier. frazierhlhs@yahoo.com
My very first impression was that of being lost on a dark, snowy path but looking ahead with hope due to the light. Because this is a suspense perhaps someone is being chased. Intriguing!!!

ReplyDeleteThe cover certainly makes me think of being way up north where the northern lights are visible.
ReplyDeleteLove the book titles in the Winter Shivers series - Cold Escape and Silent Night - a perfect pair! Love the cover of Cold Escape, the gorgeous purple bluish gives me a sense of calmness, yet under this calm surface lurks something mysterious, something sinister. Love it!

I see a cold desolate road that seems to have no end in sight. Given the light up ahead there maybe a cabin there. deborahdumm@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteThe light reminds me of the dust devils in the desert as we go from San Antonio to El Paso to visit our firefighter son. South Texas is also very seldom blessed with snowy scenery. Also love your books!
ReplyDeleteDidn’t realize I needed to include email. julia.inman@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a cold winter's night with the beautiful Northern Lights. I would love to see them in person.

ReplyDeleteI love every author mentioned in this post. I have so many of all their books. When I saw the holiday picture, it just felt so cozy.
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn’t a suspense book, the cover would be a lovely winter scene, but since it is a suspense book, it gives off the perfect creepy vibes of being all alone in the middle of nowhere hoping you can stay safe! Lcisson at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI see The Northern Lights
