What are you looking for in your next read? Also, a free book!

What type of novel is your favorite right now? Do you read across several genres, or do you stick to just the one you love?

I've been writing Clean Romantic   Suspense and Christian Romantic suspense for a number of years.

I'm considering writing one romance book series without a suspense element (if you read Love Inspired novels, think of the difference between the "Love Inspired" and "Love Inspired Suspense" lines.)

But I'm wondering if that change is a mistake, and hope you'll share your opinion!

Do you think readers might follow an author into something different?

On another note, I've been working on a purge of my office. The floor-to-ceiling bookcases and an entire closet were crammed with research books. Books on writing. Novels to be read, and beloved titles I couldn't bear to part with.

Apparently, I'm a book hoarder!

I finally made myself take a hard look at what I could give away, and 428 titles went to the main library in town, 153 to another library, and 50 research and writing books went to my daughter, who is a writer.

Isn't it a wonderful feeling to donate items to places like the library, Salvation Army, or people who can use them?

As I went through the shelves, I realized that my taste in fiction has evolved quite a bit over the years. How about yours?

Leave a comment, and you'll be in a drawing for a free e-copy of any one of my available Kindle e-books.

Almost forgot to add: here's a link for the book shown above, FINAL TRUTH!

Wishing you a beautiful spring,

Roxanne Rustand

  2. While I tend to prefer the element of suspense, I follow authors who write characters I enjoy spending time with. If God is putting a straight romance book on your heart then go for it. My reading is wide-ranging so while I love mystery/suspense there isn’t a lane within which I stay. Becca12901 (at) yahoo.com

  6. I read both inspirational romance and inspirational suspense. Suspense is my favorite usually but I do read a fair amount of romance. If I follow a particular author, I would read a book in a new genre just because that author wrote it, at least once anyway. I say write the book if you feel God is calling you to do so. Following His will brings blessings.

  8. I don't do ebooks nor use my Google account. You are under my authors account jrs0350@yahoo.com. Jane Squires. I hoard books too. I got one bookshelf four deep. I also still have boxes. After I read I share them. I've loved your books.

  9. I enjoy a variety of genres, but romantic suspense is my favorite. I need some romance to balance the suspense (good & evil). My taste in reading continues to evolve the older I get. BTW, I'm a hoarder of books also 😃. lesncyn@att.net

  10. I read across all genres but my favorite has suspense elements. I got started with mysteries when I was young by reading Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys.

  11. If you feel led to write in another genre, then do it! Your readers will follow you, and they will give you feedback as to their preferences. I prefer suspense with or without romance. I recently found myself preferring suspense over historical romance.

  12. Suspense/thriller is my favorite. Or just plain ole novel that is a good story. But I read romance, historical, Bible study, devotional, even exciting nonfiction. Love fiction historical Bible books about people events or anything. God has blessed us with authors who He leads into what He has planned for them. Pay attention to Him and He will lead you. We, your audience, will enjoy it all.

  13. Romantic Suspense is my favorite genre - i used to read more historical romance but I am loving more suspense as I get old🤣 try your hand at whatever you want - I agree with Charlotte above! I am planning a move and had to sort thru 30+ years of books 😱 but it felt so good to donate all those ones I'll never read again. Thanks for the giveaway. kheldreth@neo.rr.com

  15. Suspense is my favorite, but romantic suspense is fine too. I have read most of your books and enjoy them. I might try out your love inspired book, even though romances are not my favorite, but I really enjoy your style of writing,

  17. Oh my goodness, congratulations on cleaning out your books! That is a huge accomplishment. I have so many books, but I tend to give them away after reading them. My problem is that I keep buying books, it's so hard when authors keep writing books that I want to read! ha! lcisson at gmail dot com
