INTERVIEW WITH SAMI A. ABRAMS

Award-winning author Sami Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn’t until her 30’s that she found authors that captured her attention. Now, most evenings you can find her engrossed in a Romantic Suspense. In her opinion, a crime and a little romance is the recipe for a great story.

She lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.

Interview

What inspired you to start writing?

Unlike most writers, I didn’t want to be a writer. In fact, I didn’t enjoy reading. About twenty years ago, I found a few authors I liked and my love for romantic suspense was born. My desire to be a writer, however, still wasn’t part of my dream. Writing actually started as a bucket list item but God had different plans. He put people in my path who encouraged me, and He gave me the dream of becoming an author. Now, here I am with my third published book in less than a year.

What was the first book you wrote? Did it get published?

The first book I wrote was titled Dark Shadow. As of yet, it is unpublished. A fact that I’m really glad for. Since the first draft of that manuscript, I have done multiple revisions on it over the years and am hopeful that someday it will published. So, stay tuned on that one. 😊

Do you have a special place to write? Do you listen to music while you’re writing?

I love to write out on the back patio, but I tend to get distracted. Most of the time, I use my office to write and love to listen to K-Love or the Contemporary Christian music channel in the background.

However, I can write just about anywhere. One of the nice things about being an author…You can take your work with you.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Is there such a thing? Lol!

I am a teacher so my days are busy at school, and I write in the late afternoon and evenings after work. It doesn’t leave a lot of extra time. But when I have those moments, I love watching sports, visiting my kiddos, and just enjoying a peaceful moment of downtime.

TWIN MURDER MIX-UP is the second book in this series. Can you tell us a little bit about the previous book?

The first book in the Deputies of Anderson County series, Buried Cold Case Secrets, was my debut novel that released December 28, 2021. I love Jason and Melanie’s story and feel it makes the perfect backdrop for Twin Murder Mix-Up and the future books in the series.

Buried Cold Case Secrets: Recovering her missing memories could be the key to solving a murder

Searching for her best friend’s remains could help forensic anthropologist Melanie Hutton regain her memories of when they were both kidnapped—unless the killer gets to Melanie first. For her safety, Melanie must rely on Detective Jason Cooper, who still blames her for his sister’s death. Can Jason set the past aside to solve the cold-case murder…and shield Melanie from the same fate?

Now give us a description of TWIN MURDER MIX-UP.

Twin Murder Mix-Up is Keith and Amy’s story and deals with twins, a secret baby, and childhood friends. Keith was one of readers favorite secondary characters in Buried Cold Case Secrets. I had people actual beg me for his story. Which was a good thing since I had already written and contracted it. 😊

Twin Murder Mix-Up:

A case of mistaken identity…has lethal results

After capturing a murder on her camera, photographer Amy Baker becomes the next target—but her identical twin is killed instead. Now on the run with her sister’s newborn, Amy has only one person to turn to—Detective Keith Young, her childhood crush. But when they discover Keith is the baby’s father, can he regain Amy’s trust to keep them safe…before the killer strikes again?
