As a huge fan of CIA/Spy fiction, I was so excited to read Lights
Out – Book 1 of The SNAP Agency series, by Natalie Walters.
Let me tell just say, Lights Out didn’t disappoint! From
the first page, you are dropped into a book filled with suspense, intrigue, and
action amongst the cloak and dagger world where things are not always as they
seem.
A foreign operative is missing from a CIA sanctioned multi-country
training conference run by CIA analyst Brynn Taylor. Is there an innocent
explanation? Has the operative been kidnapped? Or is he involved in an
impending terrorist attack on US soil? Amidst the frantic search for answers,
Brynn and the man she once loved, Jack Hudson, are reunited in a desperate
search to unravel the truth and find the operative before it’s too late.
Here's the official description of this book:
CIA analyst Brynn Taylor developed a new program to combat
terrorism, and she invited members of foreign intelligence agencies to America
to foster cooperation between countries. Now one of them, Egyptian spy Remon
Riad, is missing.
Jack Hudson has been working for the Strategic
Neutralization and Protection Agency (SNAP) for almost nine years and takes the
lead in hunting down the missing spy. But he isn't at all pleased to find out
Brynn is involved. It's hard to trust a woman who's already betrayed you.
Every lead they follow draws them dangerously deeper into an
international plot. Kidnapping, murder, explosions, poisoning--the terrorists
will do anything to accomplish their goal of causing a digital blackout that
will blind a strategic US military communications center and throw the world
into chaos.
Can Brynn surrender control to a man who doesn't trust her?
And can Jack ever get over what she did to him? The fate of the world--and
their hearts--hangs in the balance.
I love the tension that exists between Brynn and Jack as they
each have their own perceptions of why their relationship ended. The introduction
of the SNAP team members and the many entertaining characters that make up this
agency will make you excited to read the next book, Fatal Code, which comes out in
May.
Lights Out is realistic in that it could very easily happen
in today’s volatile world climate. It’s an adrenaline rush that you will not want
to put down until the end. Lights Out has been on my must-read list since it came
out, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
