The Authors of Dangerous Pursuits Share Their Favorite Snacks, Plus a Special Recipe and a Giveaway!

It’s October! Almost right on cue for the beginning of fall, the weather has begun to change here in Texas. The humidity is gone and the mornings are crisp. I even saw a few trees turning.

I love this time of the year.

And in 12 days, Dangerous Pursuits releases! All the authors in the collection have worked hard to create their best stories, and we are very proud of this anthology. We hope you enjoy it, too.

If you’d like to read a sample of the collection, you can read the first 3 chapters of each book by clicking here: Dangerous Pursuits Sampler

As authors, there are certain things that just make it easier to get the creative juices flowing. Today, I thought we’d have some fun and share some of the authors in the collection’s favorite snacks, along with Gina Holder’s special fall recipe for Caramel Apple Tarts. They sound so delicious you will want to try them.

Lisa Harris’s favorite snack is chips and salsa.

For Ann Malley, it’s lots of coffee, (Viva la Coffee Bean).

For Cynthia Hickey and me, it’s M&Ms. She likes the dark chocolate ones. I’m a peanut butter-filled fan.

Dana Mentink enjoys Bhu bars. They are these low-sugar, yummy gooey things that taste like sugary goodness. Dana likes the peanut butter chocolate chip flavor the best.

Terri Reed’s favorite snack is Madeleine cookies. I haven’t tried these, but they sure look good.

Therese Heckenkamp’s favorite snack is ice cream, especially, Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Sharee Stover says, if she’s being healthy, she will do a little bowl of mixed nuts, dried blueberries, and string cheese. If she’s being not so healthy, she loves to mix Honey Grahams cereal with mini chocolate chips and mini marshmallows, (they both sound good).

Well, I've definitely found some new snacking ideas I'm going to try.

What about you? What’s your favorite snack?

Comment for a chance to win one of 2 e-book copies of Dangerous Pursuits when it comes out on the 12th! I’ll announce the winner on the 12th! Don’t forget to include your email address.

Now, here is Gina Holder’s Caramel Apple Tarts recipe. I hope you enjoy it.

Caramel Apple Tarts

4 cans Pillsbury buttermilk “mini” biscuits. (It doesn’t say “mini”, but they are really small and there are only six to a can.)

1 package (11.1oz) no-bake cheesecake mix

1 cup butter, cubed (real butter, not margarine)

1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar

½ -1TB cinnamon (according to taste)

12 small Jonathan apples, peeled and thinly sliced

3 TB heavy whipping cream

2/3 package of Kraft Caramel Bits

Bake mini biscuits according to package directions.

Prepare cheesecake mix according to package directions, set aside. (Save the packet of crust crumbs for another use.) In a large skillet melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat; stir in cinnamon. Add apples; cook and stir until tender. Remove apples with a slotted spoon to a bowl. (You should have a lot of sauce in the pan.) Add cream to skillet, cook, and stir for 2 minutes. Add caramel bits and melt into the sauce, mixing well. Split each biscuit horizontally. Top each with a scoop of cheesecake filling. Top with apple slices and drizzle with caramel sauce. Refrigerate leftovers of sauce. (It makes a great waffle topping!)

Makes 48 individual tarts

Happy fall, everyone!

Blessings always,

Mary Alford
