Romantic Suspense has NEVER been hotter!

by Elizabeth Goddard

Good morning, Suspense Sisters readers! So glad you joined us. I'm sharing with you some of the awesome romantic suspense titles I've recently read.

Let me start my post off by sharing that I will be offering a copy of Stormy Haven to one winner (US only). Please comment and leave your contact information for a chance to win!

Early on in my writing career I didn’t spend much time reading because writing took up all of my extra time. Now that my career is up and running full speed ahead, I have even less time to read! Ha! But you know what? I didn’t get into writing to give up reading. So I found a way to carve out the time to actively pursue one of my pleasures—and as it turns out, I can consider it working too.

I’ve found a way to make sure I can nurture my avid reading appetite. In the evenings before turning off the lights for sleep, and while I’m trying to relax, I can snatch half an hour to an hour of reading time. That's right--I read in snippets instead of finishing a novel in a day or two, like I did back when I was a literary addict with no control.

Before you know it, I’ve finished a whole novel. In this age of digital books, I can have all my books with me all the time via my phone or eBook reading device. No more being bored waiting at appointments or in lines.

That said, I’m so jazzed that there is a never-ending list of Christian romantic suspense titles for me to read. The genre is HOT, the writers exceptional, and their stories have never been better.

In the past few weeks I’ve read quite a few titles and there are so many more I want to get to.

Let’s start with Lynette Eason and her new series Blue Justice. I read Oath of Honor, book 1, back in January when it released. Let me tell you this is a GREAT start to a new series. This has to be my favorite series by Lynette so far, and that’s saying a lot because I’ve loved them all! I recently finished book 2, Called to Protect so I’ll focus on this book today. The opening scene will reel you in. The subject matter is intense and timely. I often struggle with books about human trafficking. It’s just so real and terrifying. But Lynette handles it all with finesse as usual! She takes you into the real world of human trafficking so that you are aware of what’s going on while maintaining a positive message of redemption and healing. Highly-recommended!

CALLED TO PROTECT Back Copy:

For the past year, Chloe St. John has been working as a K-9 cop with her German shepherd partner, Hank. After being dumped by her fiancé for another woman, Chloe has decided that Hank is just about the only male she likes. She's over the whole romance thing and focuses her attention on doing her job. Because a serious case of human trafficking with connections to her missing cousin just landed in her lap.

When US Marshall Blake MacCallum's daughter goes missing, he's ordered to kill the judge he's protecting and tell no one about his daughter's disappearance or she will die. Blake races against the clock to rescue his daughter while Chloe and Hank are asked to be a part of the task force assembled to bring down the traffickers. Chloe finds herself attracted to the silent, suffering man, but thanks to her previous bad judgment, she wonders if she can trust him. And can Blake trust himself around this firecracker of a woman?

Bestselling author Lynette Eason warns readers to buckle in for a fast and furious ride that will have their hearts pumping from the very start.

Next up. . . Lisa Harris.

I’ve known award-winning bestselling author, Lisa Harris since we both started on this writing journey—almost twenty years! That’s the best part of the journey—to have wonderful writing friends to encourage you along the way. Lisa is an exceptionally talented writer and has won many awards, including a Christy Award and Best Inspirational Suspense Novel from Romantic Times. Her latest book A SECRET TO DIE FOR is a romantic thriller you won’t want to miss. Highly-recommended!

A SECRET TO DIE FOR Back Copy:

Psychologist Grace Callahan has no idea that she has a secret--one worth killing for. But when she finds out one of her clients has been murdered, she quickly realizes that the computer security specialist wasn't simply suffering from paranoia.

Detective Nate Quinn has just been cleared for active duty after a bombing killed eighteen people, including his partner, and left him dealing with PTSD. His first case back on the job involves the murder of Stephen Shaw, and his only lead turns out to be an old friend, Grace Callahan--and her life is in grave danger. Someone believes Shaw gave his psychologist information before he died. Information they are willing to kill for.

With her signature pulse-pounding suspense, Lisa Harris takes readers deep into the heart of fear in this race against the clock.

A new favorite author—Rachel Dylan. She's an acting attorney and she knows how to write legal thrillers. I love her series, Atlanta Justice, and recently finished reading Lone Witness. The novel delves deep into the growing gang violence issues. I enjoyed getting a look into the litigation strategies of defense attorneys and prosecutors. High-Recommended!

LONE WITNESS Back Copy:

Prosecutor Sophie Dawson's first job in the White Collar division of the Fulton County D.A.'s office is to build a case against a local bank employee who may be cheating clients. But when circumstances beyond her control leave her as the only witness to a double homicide involving a vengeful gang, her world is turned upside down.

Former Atlanta police officer turned private security guard Cooper Knight is hired to ensure that Sophie is kept safe. But as threats escalate, they don't know who they can trust.

Sophie is determined not to back down, but her bank case gets more complicated by the day, and the gang will stop at nothing to keep her from testifying. Sophie wants to take a stand for what's right--but can Cooper, who is determined not to be distracted by their growing attraction, keep her safe so that she can finish her pursuit for justice?

Next up. . . Robin Caroll.

I’m currently reading Robin Caroll’s Darkwater Secrets, Book 1 in her Darkwater Inn series. I should finish in a couple more evenings. As the title suggests, Darkwater Secrets is the kind of novel that pulls you in with murder and red herrings all set at a grand old hotel in New Orleans, the perfect backdrop for such a novel. Robin is an excellent writer and with a deft hand, she weaves in all the dark elements one might find in New Orleans including voodoo, while keeping the reader anchored in the Light of the world and a message of redemption. I can’t wait to get back to the story tonight! Highly-recommended!

DARKWATER INN Back Copy:

A murder investigation uncovers sordid secrets and haunting mistakes

The Darkwater Inn stands tall and proud in the French Quarter, the hub of New Orleans. Bourbon Street is bustling, and General Manager Adelaide Fountaine has her hands full with a hotel at capacity. She, along with everyone else, is shocked when a body is found: a hotel guest stabbed with a kitchen knife.

Detective Beau Savoie, Adelaide’s childhood friend, is on the case. As Beau digs into the victim’s past, he unearths a shocking connection between Adelaide and the murdered guest. Beau is hurt that his friend—the woman he’s quietly loved for years—kept the truth from him. To make matters worse, the stress of the investigation has sent Adelaide right into the comforting arms of her coworker Dimitri. But Beau can’t press Adelaide too hard . . . he’s keeping secrets of his own.

Can Adelaide and Beau afford to hide from the truth with a killer on the loose?
