My Story World by Elizabeth Goddard

I love the summer movie season! How about you? The whole family loves to go see action-packed blockbuster movies. Recently my husband and I went to see the new King Arthur: Legend of the Sword movie, and I enjoyed yet another reimagining of the tale as well as the creative cinematography. As I watched the story unfold, I couldn’t help but think about how blessed I am to be able to write stories for a living.

In my free time I can see movies or read novels—for entertainment, of course—but with each new story world I enter, I’m inspired with a new idea or a new perspective on a current work-in-progress. So everything I do for enjoyment will also apply to my job, if you will. Another way to put it, my life is pretty much all about story.

Adding to that, each morning I try to listen to the Daily Audio Bible—I listen to the greatest story before I start my day. It’s the best way to start your day, if you can. The Bible is brimming with stories of love, intrigue, betrayal, revenge, redemption, and much more. As I listen, I’m trying to hear the heart of God as the narrator reads (Brian reads it fresh every day), but I’m also amazed at how the Bible characters—all of them—are a reflection of ourselves. If you look close enough there’s something to be found, something to be learned from every Bible character. Something to apply to myself as I go about my day. Or even a nuance to apply to a story I’m writing.

So I start my day listening to the greatest story, then I work on the stories God gives me, and I end my day reading someone else’s story! I couldn’t be more grateful to God. What a blessing. And of course, I hope and pray with each novel I write that it will bring readers closer to Him.

I’m giving away a copy of my current release FALSE SECURITY to one lucky winner. It’s book 3 in Wilderness, Inc.

NO SAFE HAVEN

Arriving at her secluded cabin to find her brother missing, Olivia Kendricks follows his trail into the woods—until two shooters take aim at her. She only escapes when ex-detective Zachary Long, her brother's friend—and Olivia's first love—comes to her rescue. Now as they run for their lives in the snowbound wilderness, they must search for her brother while figuring out why someone wants them dead. And though Zach's police force training may be what will save them, it's also what once drove them apart when he gave Olivia up to chase his dream. In a freezing landscape as deadly as it is beautiful, they'll have to let go of the past…and face down powerful men willing to kill to keep secrets buried.

  6. Well, I don't go to the movies much, but back in the day, my favorite summer movie was Jaws. I've read this awesome book as a digital copy but I'd love to have a print copy.

  7. We're seeing Wonder Woman and the new Pirates of the Caribbean movies this month, then Despicable Me3 in July, and - wait for it - did you know Kenneth Branaugh's re-done "Murder on The Orient Express"? That's in November so isn't a summer movie but I'm so glad a pro took on that re-make! And I've already read "False Security" and loved it.
