INTERVIEW WITH DIANN MILLS

S.S: How long have you been writing?

Since 1996 - My first novel was released in 1998.

S.S: Do you write full time? If the answer is no, what else do you do? If you are a full time author, what other jobs did you have in the past?

Yes I write full time and love it! I’ve done this since 1996 when my husband first challenged me to write a book.

In the past I was a day-care and pre-school director. :)

S.S: Tell us about the moment you finally felt like a “real author”?

When my first article came into print. It was a short story that appeared in Mature Living about my dad’s pet robin.

S.S.: Who has been your greatest supporter as an author?

My husband. He’s my best cheerleader and my nightmare editor.

S.S: Do you write in any other genres? If so, what?

In the past I’ve written historical romance, and I still do an occasional novella. But all my stories have the element of suspense.

S.S: How does your faith play into your writing?

At least one of my characters will be Christian. Not that the character spouts Bible verses or prays audibly, but the character lives life from a Christian worldview.

S.S: If you couldn’t write, what else would you want to do?

I have no idea! Great question!

S.S: Tell us about your current release.

I loved writing Firewall. The story had been with me for years, growing and changing. Here’s the plot line:

After a whirlwind romance, Taryn Young is preparing to board a plane at Houston International Airport, bound for a dream honeymoon, when a bomb decimates the terminal. Injured but still alive, she awakens to discover her husband is missing and they’re both considered prime suspects in the attack. Further, the FBI is convinced her husband isn’t who he appears to be.

Agent Grayson Hall’s number-one priority is to catch those responsible for the day’s act of terror. All evidence is pointing to Taryn and her new husband. But his instinct tells him her pleas of innocence are genuine. Is her naiveté just for show, or could she truly be another victim of a master scheme, possibly linked to the software she recently developed for her company?

With both their lives and reputations on the line, and the media outcry for justice increasing with each passing minute, Taryn and Grayson have no choice but to trust one another . . . and pray they can uncover the truth before they become two more casualties.

S.S: Where did you get your inspiration for this book?

I was waiting at the Nairobi, Kenya in 2007, when a young couple walked through the airport. They appeared so much in love. I wondered how their lives would change if a bomb exploded. The story developed over years until Firewall came to life.

S.S: What is the main thing you hope readers remember from your story?

Truth - always truth.

S.S: Who is your favorite character in this book and why?

I love my protagonists - Taryn and Grayson. Yet Uncle Joe has my heart.

S.S: Who is your least favorite character in this book? Why?

Probably . . . Vince. He chose the easy way out.

S.S: What are you working on now?

Book 3 in the FBI: Houston series Deadlock

S.S: Any writing goals you still hope to achieve?

Always to reach more people with a story that entertains and encourages them to be better people.

S.S: Now let’s get a little personal. Name two things on your “bucket list” that you haven’t done yet.

1. Trip to Greece to walk where Paul walked.
2. Take all my grandchildren to Disney World

S.S: What is the silliest thing you have ever done?

Probably wanting to take my grandchildren to Disney World. :)

S.S: What is the hardest thing you have ever done?
Accepting the challenge the write!
