Holiday Menace And Other Christmassy Things!

I love it when the “ber” months roll around each year because that means the holiday season is getting closer. Soon, the air will have that briskness about it, the leaves will change colors and fall, and the stores will bring out the Christmas decorations. Yay!

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I love that special feeling that comes only at Christmastime. There’s hope for peace on earth if only for a season. Bittersweet memories come to mind as we remember holidays past and the family who are no longer with us. The sights and scents of season that fill our houses. The beautiful holiday music. . .and the joy we feel as we celebrate the birth of the Savior of the World.

And what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by watching Hallmark Christmas Movies for weeks on end, and of course reading some of the amazing Christmas novels that are released each year.

As an author, I love writing Christmas novels. There’s something special about setting a story at Christmastime and having the hero and heroine experience this special time of the year together, and of course fall in love, no matter what circumstance they might be facing. And it allows me to write about those holiday traditions I love so much. Whether it’s attending a Christmas Eve candlelight service, selecting the perfect Christmas tree to bring home and decorate. Baking cookies and having the house fill with those tantalizing scents.

And for someone who lives in Texas where there’s rarely any snow, I get to have a white Christmas in my story.

This October, I’m honored to be part of a HOLIDAY MENACE, a Christmas Romantic Suspense Collection that features 10 brand-new Christmas suspense novels coming out October 4th!

Will Christmas be merry and bright? Lives are in danger when menacing pressures threaten to derail Christmas in this heart-pounding suspense—plus a little romance—collection of 10 brand-new novellas from some of the genre's most popular Christian romantic suspense authors!

Join Jerusha Agen, Mary Alford, Lori Altebaumer, Danielle Grandinetti, Sarah Hamaker, Kendall Hoxsey, Karen Kirst, Pat O’Brien, Hope Welborn, and Terri Weldon on a dangerous Christmastime journey of mystery, suspense, romance, and faith.

Midnight Clear by Jerusha Agen

Her worst fear is another Christmas alone. Until she isn’t alone.

Christmas in the Crosshairs by Mary Alford

This Christmas, Hailey Lansing is caught in the crosshairs of a deadly terrorist plot and must turn to the man who broke her heart to save her life. CIA Scorpion Team Officer Gray Beaumont never expected a second chance with Hailey, but he’ll risk everything to bring them through the threat to rebuild the love he once shattered.

Silenced Night by Lori Altebaumer

No one thinks of murder on Christmas Eve. Now Everleigh Greene has seen too much and someone wants to wish her a silenced night.

Escape with the Prodigal by Danielle Grandinetti

Only a Christmas miracle will save an unwed mother and the lumberjack protecting her. A holiday romance filled with danger, redemption, and sacrifice.

Christmas Cold Case by Sarah Hamaker

All she wants for Christmas is to solve the decades-old murder of her parents—and stay alive.

An Imminent Christmas Threat by Kendall Hoxsey

Claiming a family legacy is not for the faint of heart. A holiday suspense novella.

Smoky Mountain Rescue by Karen Kirst

Jasper's brother is missing, and the one person who can identify his abductor is the very woman he promised to stay away from. Can Jasper and Natalie overcome their differences to bring Nick home for Christmas?

Deadly School Break by Pat O’Brien

An art teacher is drawn into a deadly trap with a man she once trusted. A story fraught with chilling suspense, romance, and forgiveness.

Hidden by Hope Welborn

Trapped by a relentless Christmas snowstorm, an unknown threat shadows her every move. To survive, she must rely on the one man she swore never to trust again.

Murdered by Christmas by Terri Weldon

A serial killer has targeted Wynter Blakely and the only man who can protect her is her first love, Detective Max Holloway. Can they set aside the past long enough to keep Wynter from being Murdered by Christmas?

For a chance to win a $20.00 Amazon Gift Card, which do you prefer? Watching a holiday movie or curling up with a Christmas novel?

Be sure to comment with your email address. I’ll announce the winner when we next meet.

Last month’s winner is Cindi Knowles.

Until next time, dear friends, happy reading!

  12. I’ll always pick a book over a movie any day. I also live in an all male, household, so Hallmarks movies aren’t a fave. This collection sounds awesome, I’ll be pre-ordering!

  13. While movies are nice, there is nothing like holding a book in my hand as I sit in my favorite place - relaxed and drink of choice close by - reading. The mind is an amazing thing and the way a book opens it up to visually see what the author describes and to feel the emotions and actions through words is totally amazing. Really there is no comparison between books and movies. No matter how hard they try when they make a book into a move, there is always something special missing. Now mind you, I can very much enjoy watching a good Christian movie, but I'll take a book over it any time.

Thank you for the wonderful chance to win a $20.00 Amazon Gift Card, which I most definitely could put to good use!

  33. Whoa! A heap of comments. Good! Well as far as choosing between a book and a movie, it's hard and it depends on how I'm feeling, etc. A book requires more mental clarity (even if it is a rollicking fun story) and a movie is more reposing entertainment. So for relaxing when I have the mental clarity to immerse myself in a book, it's a book hands-down. But for just simple entertainment, a movie is a grand choice.
