Do you enjoy reading books in a series?
I enjoy both reading and writing them! That's kind of funny when I think about the reasons--they're the same--I want to find out what happens to the secondary characters in stories whether those stories come from my mind or someone else's.
Next month my sixth novel in the Mountain Cove series releases. Deception, will also be the last one in the series, at least that I know about! My editor let me add two more books to the original four-book series. There were secondary characters in the first four books that needed their own HEA (happily ever after). Deception is Chief Colin Winters and Jewel Caraway's story.
Maybe I can come back later with an additional book, or maybe my editor will let me write a prequel. But for now, I'm already writing book 3 in a brand new series which I'll share about later.
I loved writing the Mountain Cove series set in southeast Alaska. LOVED the setting, for sure, and I was able to visit many amazing places through my research. I made new friends in Alaska, as well! People who helped me to get the story setting right. To say that I'll miss my characters and the town of Mountain Cove and the stunning southeast Alaska setting is an understatement.
I'd love to hear from you. Tell me about some of your favorite series that you've read and why you loved them. Answer that in the comment section and leave your contact information and you could win an autographed copy of DECEPTION!
Another way to win is my Goodreads Giveaway.

I've heard a lot about your books, but I've never read one. I'd love a chance to read one because I'm always looking forward to discovering a new author to me. Reading is my all time favorite activity. My favorite series(some) are the Mitford books by Jan Karon, Susan May Warren's Christiansen family series and all of Rachel Hauck's series. It's too hard to pick a favorite. They are all my favorites. I influence a lot and it's too hard to choose!
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot my email address. Susan Snodgrass. TSL9Snodgrass@aol.com or TSL9Snodgrass(at)aol (dot) com.
ReplyDeleteI want to read! Thanks, Kristie

I guess the best part about series books is that you get to keep up with old friends & get to know new friends! 2 of my favorites are Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove Series & Vannetta Chapman's Amish Mystery Series. Thanks! rw620 AT aol DOT com
ReplyDeleteI love books in a series, because it keeps the characters in your life for a longer period of time. MaryLu Tyndall's pirate series are my favorites so far. If Deception is part of a series, I'd love to win the first book in the series instead, so that I can get to know the characters from the start. If that's not doable, no worries.

I like books in a series because it is like living in a small town and getting to know everyone. I did enjoy the Mitford series and there was a series by Karen Kingsbury that I loved but can't think the name of. The little house on the prairie series.. I wish my mind was working better this morning.. fishingjan[at]aol[dot]com

Books in a series are great. cheetahthecat1986ATgmailDOTcom.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy some series books as long as each book has a definite ending. I don't like left hanging from one book to the next.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites is the Baxter series by Karen Kingsbury. Thanks for a the giveaway.

Thanks for the giveaway, Elizabeth! I just had my first encounter with your work in the Alaskan Mountain Cove series, with Buried! Fun question about series. I think the first adult fiction series I loved was Lori Wick's A Place Called Home Series. I loved each of her characters so much and was especially invested in their stories because the characters were part of the same, special family. I think Wick was writing those types of series before so many other authors started doing so. Now I read much more romantic suspense than straight romance, but that series will always hold a special place in my heart. My email is jerusha(at)SDGwords(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love reading books in a series. You really get to know the characters. My problem is I have to wait until all the books in a series are out because I want to read them one right after the other! Thanks, Kristie tklovenest at[aol]dot(com)
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy series. Anne Perry writes a wonderful series set in Victorian England.
