Nancy Mehl’s latest release, Cold Pursuit, was exactly what I needed to read last week. The snowy-cold theme offered a fantastic escape from the sweltering temperatures here in Nebraska, and an edge-of your seat suspense is welcome any time of year.
The story follows River Ryland and Tony St. Clair, a pair of former FBI agents-turned private investigators who are asked to help find a boy that went missing years ago. Lots of twists and turns keep the story moving at a great pace and kept me guessing until the end.
As always, Nancy Mehl did a wonderful job developing realistic characters with flaws and struggles I could relate to.
The villain was my favorite kind. Not just a bad guy, but a sympathetic character with a backstory that made me want to personally throw him in jail after giving him a hug, because I doubt he got enough of them growing up.
So far, this has been my favorite summer read, and it will be a tough one to beat. If you haven’t read it yet, you really should! Check it out here.

Congrats on the book baby, Nancy. It sounds like a great read. My favorite summer activity is seeing friends, whether I visit them or they come to see me. Becca12901 at yahoo
