WHAT KEEPS AUTHORS INSPIRED?
What keeps authors inspired? There are a lot of answers to that question, from reading other books in the same genre, to watching certain movies or TV shows. For example, several readers have remarked that my FBI books remind them of the show, Criminal Minds. That excites me since it’s one of my favorite series.
But I can tell you that most authors, including me, are even more inspired by great reviews and favorable comments from readers. However, the thing that means the most? Letters and remarks from people letting us know much a book meant to them personally. One young man wrote from prison to tell me that he’d read some of my books and that something I’d said ministered to him. I saved his letters, and now that he’s out, we’re good Facebook friends. Another young woman wrote that something in one of my books led her back to God. I’ve also gotten personal messages through Facebook from readers who wanted me to know that my writing had touched their hearts. Those reactions keep me going, and I can guarantee you that I speak for most other inspirational authors.
Leave a comment below about a book that touched your life. Don’t forget your contact information. Someone will win a $20.00 gift card from Amazon.

One of the first books that touched my heart is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein when I was a child. The tree, to me, was the perfect example of unconditional love. cherierj(at)yahoo(dot)com
