Transitions and gratitude

I think the last time I posted I was in the process of putting my house of 28 years on the market. The house has since sold and I am living in a condo. When I made a list of what a needed in a new home one of the things I wanted was a small fenced yard. Small because my old house had an acre of unfenced land and I could not keep up with the care taking required of it. I wanted a fenced yard so I could open a door and let my ten year old dog out to do his business. Because of the nature of the frenzied real estate market where I live that was the one thing that I could not manage to find with the budget I had to work with.

I am however so grateful for so much with my new living quarters. The dog park is a five minute walk away. I am close to a park and ponds. I can walk to the grocery store and the mall. The condo is newer and so much easier to keep clean and take care of. My old house was built in 1940 and had all kinds of old house problems. I no longer have to deal with hard water from a well.

September went by in such a flurry because of all that was involved in making this transitions. I didn't have time to talk much about my book that came out in September. Scene of the Crime which is part of the  Brooklyn K-9 series. I love that my heroine is a forensic tech named Darcy who calls herself "the nerdy science girl."

I am keeping this post short because I just now feel like I am getting back to being a writer and doing all the stuff connected with that. But I would like to hear from anyone who has read the other books in this series from Love Inspired Suspense and if you leave a comment with your email address I would like to give away two copies of Scene of the Crime.

It's good to be back.

  4. I think I read the first book in this series and really need to catch up! The K-9 Unit are among my favorite of the Suspense line :-)

Moving, ugh! I can understand about the housing market because it took us almost four years to find just the right place to buy. There were certain things we wanted and needed, and most of what we found was too pricey or needed too much work. The budget just didn't allow for that. Wouldn't it be nice to have an unlimited budget for your dream house? Or build one :-)

I'm glad you found the perfect place for you & your little dog! 😊 And settling back into a writing routine. It's nice to get back to normal, isn't it?

Thank you for the chance to win a copy of "Scene of the Crime". I love the dog on the cover!

    1. Thanks Trixie. Yes moving is a chore. I thought that my needs were pretty simple. I didn't care if the place had "high end finishes" or whatever. In fact, I looked at one place and thought it was just too fancy for me. Even with not being overly picky it was a challenge in this real estate market to find a place and to deal with all the competition.

  7. I’ve not read any of this series but I do enjoy Love Inspired Suspense. I’ve lived in the same house for thirty six years and would hate to think about packing up. My mom passed away almost four years ago and dealing with her house she had lived in for fifty five years was a real chore. Not for the faint of heart.

    1. Yes, it is easy to fill a house up with stuff and to not deal with things. I am trying to get rid of more and more so I don't leave my kids a mess when I am gone.

  13. I have not read any of this particular series yet, but I do have them all on my Kobo waiting for the series to end so I can read them all in order. I do this with all the LIS series books. I am in Canada so cannot win but since I already have the book it does not matter.

  19. Glad to hear from you, Sharon. Hope and pray things continue to go better for you as you adjust to a new place and new settings. Will keep praying for you. Am excited that you are writing again. As you may remember, I do really like CF Romantic Suspense, and really enjoy reading any (print) books written by you, because I feel like I know you a little bit, especially since I'm in Deer Lodge, MT (where my husband is the minister of Grace Baptist Church, 301 Prairie Lane, across from the Grant-Kohrs Ranch). I sure would love to win a print copy! Thanks for the opportunity to enter a giveaway! God bless and I wish you the best in your new endeavors!
