Whatever you say, don't mention the virus

I really tried to come up with a post that didn't in some way reference Corona virus. I know everyone is probably tired of thinking, reading worrying about it. I wanted to provide you with an escape in this post, but every idea I came up with seemed to circle back to what the whole world is experiencing right now. I thought I would share some pictures that maybe help us get some perspective, shift our focus to the good things that surround us.

This photo is a place I like to hike taken at a time before the world was under siege and we were dealing with so many unknowns. When I look at it, I feel a sense of peace. And I am reminded that God is in control. I can hear the mumbling hum of the river and feel the mountain breeze on my face. Not far from here is a trail that leads up to a waterfall. As. you take the winding trail up the mountain, you can hear the waterfall way before you see it.

This is a painting I did of a cat at a window. I have
done four so far. When I walk or drive through my neighborhood
there is something reassuring about seeing cats at
windows. The message seems to be that all is well with the world. The cat isn't stressed about anything. Just watching, just waiting. Finding the warm spot, the sunbeam and settling in. We could learn something from cats.

Finally, I leave you with the quote from that wise philosopher Winnie the Pooh. When my husband was dying of cancer six year ago, this was the saying that I repeated to myself. I know things are hard and there are so many unknowns right now. But God is faithful and he is the constant in our lives when everything else is shifting. We are all braver, stronger and smarter than we realize and God is way bigger than all of this.

I know Easter will look very different for everyone this year. I would be curious to hear how people will be celebrating. Or share with me what you have found lifts your spirit as we deal with life in these strange times. Leave a comment with your email address. I will be giving away two copies of  my romantic suspense Mistaken Target.

  1. We've been walking at a county park. It's amazing how much better we feel afterwards. Other than that, we've been at home puttering around either inside or outside. I do get a little extra reading time in when hubs naps. Your kitty picture is adorable! Stay safe Sharon!

    1. thanks Robin. I was walking the trails by my house. The last time I wore a mask and then I decided maybe it would be better not to. There is a lot o contradictory info about how the virus is spread. I might get total cabin fever and hit the trails.

  2. We're not doing anything special this Easter. The setting in your hiking photo looks so peaceful and the kitty picture is beautiful. Have a Happy Easter!

  5. We are trying to figure out something to do with the children since we normally have a family get together. I have to keep giving this all over to God and reminding myself He's in control and will get us all through this.

  6. We are extremely fortunate to live on a small acreage just outside our town in the Ozark Mountains. When we finally got to move to our dream destination three years ago, we greatly downsized and built the home we had always talked about. Although smaller in rooms (we only have one bedroom), there is plenty of space for just the two of us. One of the things one the top of our list was a huge, covered front porch - which we made sure was incorporated into our home. We are also blessed with many daily critter visitors. In any given day, we may see anything from fox, bobcat, raccoons, deer, squirrels, chipmunks and birds like like the robin, tufted titmouse, chickadees, and bluebirds as well as those that are migrating through now like the cedar waxwing and the gold finches.

Hubby developed a love for photography a few years back and got me hooked about the time we moved here. It was something we enjoyed doing together especially when we went traveling on some of our well planned trips each year. Sadly, we had to cancel out longed for trip to see all the nations park in the state of Utah. We were suppose to be leaving this next Friday.

Instead of travelling anywhere, we venture out onto our front porch every day to sit and to enjoy nature. The trees haven't bloomed out completely so we still have view of the mountains across the way. And we try to capture the critters with our camera. If I do say so myself, we have captured some amazing bird shots this spring. I wish I could share one or two here but there's no way to post photos that I know of. It is a good way to get away from all the news reports and the sadness in the world and to see the beauty there is in this world.

This Easter is suppose to be on the very cool side, but I'm sure we will bundle up and go out on the porch to check out what nature has to over and give thanks to God for all his blessings. I do have a center cut slice of ham so I can see where a small typical Easter meal will be had as well.

Be happy, safe and healthy and God bless!

    1. Glad you can do that. I feel the strongest connection to God when I'm in nature. More so than in church even

  7. I am fortunate that I work from home normally so that hasn't changed. PLUS my son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren moved in with me at the beginning of this as they lost daycare right away and were able to find it in my town so they can work from my home also. It is definitely more chaotic than I am used to, but wonderful to have loved ones near. Wishing you all a wonderful Easter! Thanks for the chance to win a good read! dawn.nicol at gmail dot com

  8. We will be going to our sons for dinner, if we hadn't been around him since this started we probably would not go, but he stops by to check on us and his wife is working from home and his kids are doing their school at home, so we are going.

I really enjoy the Love Inspired Suspense so thank you for the chance to win a copy of this book.

  9. We will be watching our church's service online and then having our grown daughter and her beau over for Easter lunch. We're expecting rain on Easter morning, so we'll probably stay indoors and maybe play a game or such after lunch.

  10. We have been staying busy with home and garden projects, also walking nearby trails and in our neighborhood. My dh has taken as much vacation leave as he can with work being very slow, which is a blessing. We hope to celebrate Easter with church at home and a special meal.

  11. We are going to spend the day outside with a bonfire and games tomorrow since it's going to be nice - and maybe a simple egg hunt. It's supposed to rain on Sunday, so we'll cook dinner together and probably watch a movie. Starting today, we're watching the Easter-related Drive Thru History episodes to get ourselves ready for the real meaning of the holiday.

  12. We usually don't do anything special on Easter. Church on Sunday morning, a small egg hunt for the Sunday school kids and a special brunch put on by the ladies in our church. Obviously, this year there won't be any of that happening. So it's just going to be a day of quiet reflection of Jesus death & resurrection at home.

Thank you for the giveaway chance!

  13. I will be celebrating Easter and having Easter Dinner with my parents and Cat. I live with my parents so we will be together but not with the rest of the family.
What lifts me up in these uncertain times are the Bible verses I read daily. The one I read daily multiple times uplifts me a lot. That Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31. I try to keep smiling and smiling at others too because lifts up others and also my attitude. Does it really work? You bet it does. I do a lot of praying to God too and that helps.
Love the book cover and excerpt. Would love to read paperback version of this book and review it. Love Love Inspired books.
    Hope I win.

  17. Hubby has to work and I am still recovering from Covid 19 so no Easter plans for us. I will watch our pastor's sermon online. Since I have a chronic illness and hubby works longer hours as a manager now not a whole lot has changed for me during this time. I am home alone a lot any way. Just me and the dog and cat. clhutson1016(at)gmail(dot)com

  18. We've been watching church on FB, but this Sunday, our church has devised a way for those that want to gather at church to do so. We'll have 10 feet between vehicles and windows must remain closed. The service will be broadcast on a special frequency that each person can hear in their car. After service we'll head home for an Easter meal. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of your book.

  19. Our area has severe weather predicted so we’ll probably be watching the TV for updates. Our Bible Study Class will be meeting once again online then we will watch our church service on Facebook. I was in an auto accident 2/6 that broke several bones and the pelvic fracture has me non weight bearing for three more weeks so I’ll be watching my grandkids hunt eggs through my window from my living room in my hospital bed. As the weather permits of course. I can’t cook this year so my husband and son in law have graciously volunteered to grill steaks.

  27. I am luckier than many because my daughter and her 6 year old daughter have been living with us so I will have them and my husband with me on Easter Sunday. We are having an online chuech service at 11 and I will be cooking Easter dinner. I've cooked my ham today and will do the rest tomorrow. Today, we've already hunted eggs outside 3 times and we will tomorrow, if the rain holds off. Yes, Easter us going to be very different but Easter Sunday is usually very hectic. Sunrise service, church breakfast, Sunday morning service, and then Easter dinner. Hopefully, this will offer us the chance to truly reflect on that empty tomb. Many things are cancelled but Easter will NEVER be cancelled!
    God bless all of you.

  34. We watched our church service on TV. It was beautiful! Then, 1 of our pastors had us paint celebration or overcomer rocks at our homes then drive by their home in the afternoon and place them inside a cross drawn on their driveway! It was great seeing church members and honking and waving. It was a really beautiful day in Tx also as we celebrated our Risen Savior
