New book release...with a free book give away!

Happy New Year!

I hope this finds you all in good health, with great goals and a happy outlook for the coming year.

Have you set any goals for 2020?  I don't mean New Year's resolutions, but concrete goals. A newsletter from a local doctor's office suggested the following:

1. Make five short-term goals. Write "due dates" for each one on your calendar. Add five more when those are done.

2. Make five long-term goals.

3. For each goal, list three action steps that you can take.

4. Print a document listing all of these goals and post it where you can see it every day.

I've been working on two short-term goals already--decluttering the house after the holidays, and clearing out and organizing our cupboards.  One of my long-term goals will probably take me until the end of summer--reaching the healthier weight I was at when I was thirty.  :)  Thirty pounds gone, but still far to go.

What are some of your own long-term or short-term goals for the coming year?

On another note,  I am so excited about the release of my new Love Inspired novel, SNOWBOUND WITH THE COWBOY, which appeared in Walmarts, book stores, and online on January first.

I so loved writing this one and was sad to say farewell to the characters when I typed "The End."  And I adore the cover.  I always have dogs and/or a variety of other animals in my books, and perhaps it was just a subconscious thing when I added a golden retriever mix and a stray border collie to this one--but it was a poignant moment when I first saw my author copies a month or so ago.

I proved some generic dog photos from a photo site online, as an example. The cover artist painted two dogs that look exactly like our two rescues...and those books arrived just a day or so after we had to say a heart-wrenching farewell to our beloved border, Elmo. I will treasure this cover forever!

Best wishes to you all for a wonderful year!  Leave a comment, and you'll be entered in a drawing for a free e-copy of SNOWBOUND WITH THE COWBOY!

Wishing you a year of happiness,
Roxanne Rustand

  1. Hmm. I never thought of goals like this and didn't think I had any. But, after reading the post I see that I do have some. Not sure about short term ones yet. A few long term ones would losing weight and cleaning and organizing the shed. (I've been wanting to do that for a couple years but have to wait until my daughter is available to help. I can't lift the heavy boxes out there.)

  2. I don't usually make a resolution for the new year. I've seen many sites that are using a word or quote for the year, which I also don't usually do. I like the idea of using a word/quote or making realistic goals rather than a resolution so I may give that some thought in the upcoming weeks. The cover of the book makes me want to dive right in and read it!! ctopp(at)richhill(dot)k12(dot)mo(dot)us

  5. I have short-term goals based on my long-term goal of losing 25 pounds slowly. My short-term goals are by each Sunday to have gone down another half pound. I figured that small amount should be more realistic for me to maintain. I lost my Morkie right after Thanksgiving and am looking to get a rescue dog. I do love when dogs are written into stories. :)

  6. My goal is to let go of things especially clothing I hold on to because I’ve lost everything before. I just filled two kitchen size garbage bags to give to the homeless program a local church runs.

  9. I really didn't make any "resolutions" that I put down on paper, but I always have one to try to be a better person. I have been feeling better since October on new medicine. I feel more like my "old self", which is a miracle to me, considering how awful I have felt the prior 2-1/2 years.

  10. I don't set many personal goals, as most of mine are simple and work on my daily to-do lists. My business goals get organized in my business binder, and I work from that.

  11. My goals are much like yours. I need to organize and declutter my bathroom, bedroom and closets. I too want to lose weight by the summer if possible.

  13. My goal at the beginning of each year is to completely clean a drawer or shelf each day. Some years I get farther than others! I am also trying to listen to Christian sermons or music more during the day to keep my mind on God. jarning67(at)hotmail(dot)com

  17. I worked in special education for many years, and goals had to be observable and measurable, and of course they were reviewed at our clients' annual meetings.. Yes, I've set 3 goals for this year... one day at a time! I have my goals posted on the wall in my bedroom, and at the front of my journal!

  18. I'm a Full Focus Planner junkie using Michael Hyatt's system of SMARTER goals. Though I tend to focus on quarterly goals, since I'm in a position that is changing. FYI if you're not familiar with Hyatt's framework: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Risky, Timebased, Exciting, and Relevant.
Thanks for offering this book drawing, Sounds interesting!

  20. I love the cover. Can I have the goal to be snowbound with a cowboy? Just thought I'd ask. I'm retired. I don't really make resolutions or goals.
