Family and writing life .....Roxanne Rustand

Good morning, everyone!

Here in the Upper Midwest, we've had unexpected weather for this time of year--autumn leaves are still on the trees, but we just had four inches of snow, temps down into the 20s, and high winds this week. This is a photo taken of our deck.  Out in the yard, it may look as if the snow was light and the grass is still showing, but those are gold and yellow leaves blanketing the snow after all of the wind.
Yesterday evening the little trick or treaters were out in coats and snow boots.  Brrr!

I'd intended to write this post early on Thursday, but the day ended up busy with writing, unexpected errands and then the chance to spend the evening with our son and his family, so I'm typing this in the wee hours of Friday morning. Ironic, really, because I planned to write about how one can get behind because "life happens" and indeed, life (happily) simply got in the way.

It happens for all of us, doesn't it? Whether we are writers or have other careers, are busy stay-at-home moms, or are holding down a fulltime job and raising children.  Whatever season of life we're in, it's a blessing if we can be busy and involved, and an even greater blessing if we have the good health to enjoy it!

I hope that you're having a lovely fall.  And for those of you in California, I pray that you are out of harm's way and that the devastating fires will soon be over. My heart is breaking over the suffering and great losses caused by those fires.

Leave a comment, and you will be entered in a drawing for a free e-copy of my light romantic suspense, Comeback Cowboy.

Best wishes to you all,
Roxanne Rustand

    1. We sometimes have brown winters here in Iowa....or maybe have just a few nice snowfalls during a winter. Then again, we can have blizzards.

This snow was actually very damaging to trees still holding onto their fall leaves, and the heavy wet snow broke a major branch on one of our pine trees.

How chilly does it get in your part of the country? Do you see brilliant fall colors in your part of the South?

    2. Our summer was extremely dry, so our fall foliage is lacking this year. We rarely if ever see snow. Our winters are fairly mild.

  6. My mother would LOVE this book. I will have to pick up a copy for her. And, "life" does seem to get in the way of LIFE...the urgent seems to take priority of the important, but it's good when it's the othe way around.
