Interview with Lisa Harris and GIVEAWAY: A Secret to Die For

Elizabeth Goddard here. Today I'm introducing one of the most amazing people I know. She's a great wife, incredible mother, trusted friend, and fearless missionary. Oh--and an awesome writer! Now, let the official introductions begin!

LISA HARRIS is a Christy Award finalist for Blood Ransom and Vendetta, Christy Award winner for Dangerous Passage, and the winner of the Best Inspirational Suspense Novel for 2011 (Blood Covenant) and 2015 (Vendetta) from Romantic Times. She has over thirty novels and novella collections in print. She and her family have spent almost fifteen years working as missionaries in Africa. When she's not working she loves hanging out with her family, cooking different ethnic dishes, photography, and heading into the African bush on safari. For more information about her books and life in Africa visit her website at www.lisaharriswrites.com

See what I'm saying---she's Ah-Amazing!

READERS: To enter the drawing for a copy of A Secret To Die For, please leave your contact information in the comment section.

Let's hear from Lisa!

If you had to describe yourself in one sentence, what would you say?

Focused, loyal, creative, and quiet.

What do you do when you’re not writing? Any interesting hobbies?

I really love photography, especially animals and birds. Living in Africa gives me a lot of great things to photograph.

What was your favorite book as a teen or child?

There are several that come to mind right off—Island of the Blue Dolphins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and any Nancy Drew book.

What genre did you start out writing? Have you changed course? Why or why not?

I started off writing Christian romance, but always had to weave in a suspense line even if it was subtle. Now my suspense lines usually stronger than the romance, though both are there. (Got to have that happy and romantic ending!!)

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?

When I started out with my first critique group, I was told to go home and start over with my story. That was tough, but it taught me so much! Having someone tell me the truth about my writing—in a nice way—is the only way to grow as an author. As for the best, my favorite is probably when I’m told a story reads like a movie.

Any other genres you’d like to try? If yes, what and why?

Honestly, I love what I write, so for now my plan is to stick with what I enjoy.

If you could go back in time and do something differently at the start of your career, what would it be?

Be more patient and worry less. It’s easy to get competitive with other writers while worrying about getting published when what you should be doing at the beginning is learning all you can and just sticking to it!

What is the most important thing you’d like readers to take away from your books?

That God is real and can use any of us no matter how insignificant we think we are.

What is the most valuable piece of advice you’d like to give to unpublished authors?

Write, write, and write some more. If that’s what you want to do, don’t let fear and discouragement stop you. The more you write, the better you’ll become!

Thank you so much for taking this time with Suspense Sisters!

A SECRET TO DIE FOR

Psychologist Grace Callahan has no idea that she has a secret--one worth killing for. But when
she finds out one of her clients has been murdered, she quickly realizes that the computer security specialist wasn't simply suffering from paranoia.

Detective Nate Quinn has just been cleared for active duty after a bombing killed eighteen people, including his partner, and left him dealing with PTSD. His first case back on the job involves the murder of Stephen Shaw, and his only lead turns out to be an old friend, Grace Callahan--and her life is in grave danger. Someone believes Shaw gave his psychologist information before he died. Information they are willing to kill for.

With her signature pulse-pounding suspense, Lisa Harris takes readers deep into the heart of fear in this race against the clock.
