Interview

What do you do when you’re not writing? Any interesting hobbies?

When I’m not writing, I’m usually hanging out with my family. My mom recently came to live with us, and that has been such a huge blessing to our family. As far as hobbies, I love going for long walks with my dog, Tucker. I also am a huge Cleveland Indians fan.

What was your favorite book as a teen or child?

My favorite book as a child was Charlotte’s Web. As an adult, my favorite book is The Atonement Child, by Francine Rivers.

What genre did you start out writing? Have you changed course? Why or why not?

I started out writing suspense, and I’ve not changed courses. Writing a novel takes a lot of work, and I found that writing in the genre I enjoy reading helps get me through the rough spots.

What is the most important thing you’d like readers to take away from your books?

I’m so very thankful for readers who take time out of their busy lives to read my book. (Book #2 is in progress) I feel it’s an honor to write fiction that draws the reader closer to the Lord. As my book relates to the value of life, it would also be a huge blessing if after finishing Misconceptions the reader realized how very precious and valuable each human life is.

What is the most valuable piece of advice you’d like to give to unpublished authors?

Enjoy the journey. Enjoy the successes and set-backs. Each rejection brings you one step closer to publication. Read a lot, write and rewrite, and find some writing friends who can help you out along the way. Then look forward to the day when you can give someone a hand up.

MISCONCEPTIONS: A Suspense Novel (Missteps Book 1)

It’s mysterious. And she’s too curious.

In this pro-life Christian romantic suspense novel, it’s the near future. Dominique, an investigative TV news reporter, is sent to solve the mystery: why the birthrate in the United States has dropped precipitously … everywhere except a few small pockets. Undercover at an Ohio hospital, she sidesteps oddly incompetent police and finds herself in a stew of kidnappings and murder threats.

Her investigation takes a radical turn when she meets Dr. Joseph Armstrong. His attention makes her heart flutter, but his theory about the birthrate decline makes her heart stutter. It’s too strange to even consider, but it’s her only lead. Is it romance, or a mismatch?

Dominique follows the trail into the dangerous underworld of black-market adoptions as Joe and his family are unwittingly drawn into the web of deceit and murder. And when the truth comes out, more than just her story is on the line.
