Serial
killers are some of the most talked about and written about of all killers. There
are many wonderful Christian Suspense authors who write about serial killers. I’ve
always been fascinated by what turns someone into a serial killer. In my
writing career, I’ve written several books about serial killers, and it’s interesting to look into the mind of a serial killer, even a fictional
killer, and try to bring
the killer to life for the reader as well as find a way to have a happy ending for those involved.
The FBI estimates
there are between 25-50 active serial killers operating in the US today. That’s
scary.
Currently,
there are four main types of serial killers. The Visionary who kills because he
believes he is being commanded by God. Hedonistic killers do so for the sake of
personal pleasure. Mission-oriented killers are out to "rid" society
of a particular group they believe is deserving of death. And the final type of
killer is Power and Control killers, the who seek to exhibit total control and
dominance over their victims. Ted Bundy was a Power and Control killer.
So, what’s
it like to look into the mind of a killer? As you can imagine, it’s scary.
You must dig
deep and learn what truly makes a killer tick, what drives him to kill, and what
was the defining moment in his life that turned him into the killer.
While most serial killers are men, it isn't unheard of for a women to a serial killer.
In Sins of
the Past, Hope Island Securities member, Janine Blackwell, thought she’d put
the Judge serial killer away ten years earlier. But when another victim is found with the same MO as the Judge, Janine realizes Judge is back and about to reclaim his title.
Sins of the
Past is part of the Small Town Danger Collection coming out on April 25th.
For a chance
to win one of 5 e-book copies of the collection, Small Town Danger, tell me
what is your favorite serial killer fictional book? Or if you aren’t a fan of these

It's a book about a mission-oriented killer; my favorite book of this genre is Operation Zulu by Ronie Kendig.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read it yet, but I love Ronie's books. I'll check it out.
DeleteNancy Mehl’s Kaely Quinn Profiler series is one that really sticks in my mind. I really am not sure what type of serial killer that was. It actually kind of creeps me out that I’m picking a “favorite” serial killer!
