Just want to let everyone know when you read this on Wednesday, I'll be somewhere on my own little island in the South Pacific. If I don't answer the comments right away it’ll be ‘cause I'm too busy diving, or just sunning on the beach, or relaxing in the hammock.
And how did I get so blessed that I am able to retire to that island? There’s this lovely woman in Nigeria who wants to give me money! I get the first payment today. If you don’t believe me, read the letter she sent me--

Whoo-Whoo!! Life of leisure, here I come...
I guess you can see I'm not on a beach in the South Pacific. And I'm sure you knew when you read the first part of the post that I wouldn't be. But when the above letter came into my inbox, I couldn't resist having a little fun with it. But it did make me stop and think.
Not what idiot thought I'd fall for such a silly email, but if somehow I did fall into $2 million dollars, would I then do nothing the rest of my life? Would I just retire from life and go live on a beach somewhere in the South Pacific?
I'm going to reserve my answer to that question for the comments. You see, I want you to answer the question: what would you do with the balance of $2.5 million dollars after paying all your bills and setting up trusts for your kids, etc? Leave a comment and I'll enter you in a drawing for either Deception or the book that releases in May.
Oh, and I wish all those people who are scamming others would get a real job.
My husband and I would use our "fun money" to be further involved in medical missions and some great family vacations... like the Greek Isles with all the grown kids and their families.
ReplyDeleteSounds great...maybe your family would adopt me? :-)
DeleteOoh, what a question! After bills and paying for the kids' education, I'd want to relocate and then do stuff to help some of the sites and programs that are important to me. They help other people through education, which is my thing as a teacher. Currently, both of them are working to promote peace via forgiveness, which fits well with what I believe.
ReplyDeleteGreat answer, Amy!
DeleteI would give money to my church, animal shelters and foster care.
ReplyDeleteI’d like to set up a fund to help college students. So many students need financial help. They have my heart.

Absolutely, Tammy. Everything costs so much now! My granddaughter just finished getting an associates degree and there's no telling how long it will take her to pay off her student loans.
DeleteFirst to my church and after the bills are paid I would plan a big family reunion..I haven't seen my older brother in 15 years!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea, Mary Beth! I'd love to have a family reunion--I have cousins I haven't seen since a funeral.
DeleteI would pay my 10% in tithes and give more to my other favorite organizations. I would help some friends and relatives get out of debt and provide housing for a couple homeless people I know.
ReplyDeleteI would save some and I would also take a vacation. Go visit a friend in Alaska.
I forgot to add my name. Bonnie Strappello
DeleteBonnie, that sounds like a good use of the money!
DeleteAnonymous gifts to the needy
ReplyDeleteI like that!

Me, too, BN!
DeleteI would help my dear friends in Moldova with their personal expenses and ministry work and also support Bulgaria’s Child. They help orphans and are also take in in Ukrainian refugees. Their expenses are great, but their ministry is so needed.
ReplyDeleteIf I could hire someone to regularly dust my house, so I could breathe, well that would be incredibly wonderful. Barbara Diggs
Sound like a great use of the money, Barbara!
DeleteI’d take a trip to Armenia to meet my new found cousins in person! We lost track of the family almost 100 years ago!
ReplyDeleteOnlysis06
That sounds like an awesome trip!
DeleteI would travel to see each member of my family and then head for Israel as a tourist for 3-6 months.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend coming home from Israel tomorrow. She's been there 8 or 9 times for a total of 136 days.
DeleteI'd give money to missionaries and do a lot more traveling. But I wouldn't quit writing. I enjoy it too much. (Though I might have to find a mountain retreat, maybe somewhere close to the coast, to do my writing.)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Robin! Wouldn't it be great to have a mountain retreat center where we could invite writers to come and just hang out!
DeleteSorry you're not in the South Pacific on your own little isle.😅 After I paid off our kids' debts, I'd probably buy a beach house. I adore the beach. I'd send a hefty donation to St. Jude's & our church for missions. And buy a Christian fiction bookstore! lol
ReplyDeletedianalflowers at aol dot com
St. Jude is such a wonderful place to give money! And I like all the things you'd do with the money.
DeleteInteresting question! I don’t think much about doing things with this much money but definitely would do the things you said and then help those I felt the Lord leading me to help.
ReplyDeleteAnd He would lead you!
DeleteI would to missions at my church, also go on some mission trips. I would redo my bathroom, Go to Israel, Take an Alaskan cruise.
ReplyDeleteI like what you would do, too! Those are all places I want to go to!
DeleteI could use a new house and new furniture. My home needs lots of repairs and a new water heater, etc. I'd like a big library so I can organize my books.

I like your answer, Michelle!
DeleteI would pay off my stepdads house because after we lost my Mom last year it’s obvious that he cannot manage his finances. I’d be really happy for him to be able to keep his house and have a stable place to live even if that means selling it somewhere down the road for a different living arrangement.

I'm so sorry for your loss last year, Perrianne. Losing our mothers is one of the hardest things we do in this life. I hope your stepdad will learn how to handle his finances!
